Bio
Camilla Vesterløkke (b. 1991) is a Danish, Richmond, Virginia–based artist whose work moves between abstraction and figuration. Working primarily with acrylics and oil sticks on unprimed, large-scale canvases, her practice is an intuitive exploration of human connection, emotional truth, and lived experience. Through textured surfaces, layered marks, and expressive gesture, she creates a sense of depth that mirrors the emotional and psychological depth of her subject matter.
Her work draws from both inner emotional landscapes and the natural world, where figures, animals and organic forms appear as symbolic presences, reflecting instinct, vulnerability, and connection. Existing in the space between feeling and narrative, her paintings suggest quiet stories, inner states, and moments suspended in time. Guided by instinct and presence, she uses mark-making, texture, and color to distill emotion into form, allowing each piece to carry a particular emotional resonance while remaining open to interpretation.
